Programmer gone voice actor: Return of the Guitar Lord!

So you may be wondering what posts about voice acting are doing on a programmer's blog. Well, voice acting is something of a hobby of mine... a hobby which may be becoming a career in it's own right (fingers crossed).

I have recently been contracted to voice act on a upcoming video game, Return of the Guitar Lord. Seriously folks, this game is going to be epic-sweet!

You can watch the trailer (and hear my voice!) here:

Out of Darkness

A simple Myst-Puzzle-type game, created in the Unreal engine by me and some compatriots. I was the Scripting lead, the lead for Animation (including procedural animation), and the lead for what few UI elements were involved.
I also helped schedule game progress; delegate team roles; and design gameplay, story, and layout elements.

You can find screenshots of the game here: http://www.ryanbown.org/out_of_darkness.html

Earthcraft

I completed an OpenGL game engine and accompanying game called "Earthcraft" a few months ago with the help of 2 classmates. It's a Tactical RPG, where "geomancers" have the ability to manipulate the terrain to their armies' advantage.
This game and it's engine was written from scratch using only c++ and Glut. I co-authored the game engine, wrote all camera transformations, designed and implemented the realtime non-linear terrain manipulation. I also created some of the modeling and textures. Teammates were James White and Devin Fisher.

It can be downloaded at http://www.et.byu.edu/~pic3/Earthcraft.zip PLEASE NOTE IT REQUIRES A GAMEPAD/JOYSTICK.

Read the "readme" file for instructions.
